A conversation such a big word when it comes to making it with strangers. It’s hard enough to start a good conversation with anyone. Not everyone is good at it. So to make it simple for everyone Malavika Varadan came up with this topic at TEDxBITSPilaniDubai 4 years ago. She has defined 7 ways to make conversation with anyone but we have shortlisted 5 ways to make effective conversation to anyone.

Step 1:

She firstly talked about the strangers that “Strangers are everywhere we go so we must know how to deal with them”. Firstly we feel awkward when it comes to Talk with strangers. When you get that chance to talk with them just start your conversation with simple “Hey!!!”, “Hi!!”, “Hello!”. What the worse you’ll get in reply for example ignorance or they will reply to you with the same gesture you got. Else they will reply with the awkward type expressions.

Step 2:

After that Malavika also made the audience talk with each other the simple “Hii!!”. She also gave the advice to do not to waste time on, “How are you?”, ” I am fine”, kind of normal starting conversation lines. Simply come up with the main exact question that you just want to ask. Questions should be like Asking a name and the particular meaning of that like who kept that for them. In addition, you can ask their city’s name like where do they live to make them comfortable with you. And you can also ask them where do their family comes from. Malvika uses these lines every time she meets new people, for example, a cab driver.

Step 3:

Find the person with the same interest you have. When you met some person for the first time then make sure you might have something in common between to of you. When you find that same interest then you conversation will be a lot easier.

Step 4:

Give compliments to that person you meet but in a way that won’t make them feel awkward but make them happy. When they give a positive response then ask them a relevant question. And don’t be biased to something so that a person feels cornered.

Step 5:

Be present and make eye contact. When you make eye contact they will not dare to look away from you. Remember their name and all the details you talked about till now and don’t mix up those details. In the end, they will remember you for sure.
