Do you travel for work? Well, some people love it because they get to travel for free but others dread every trip wishing it to be over already. So, if you’re frequently travelling across the globe for work, you want it to be as bearable and enjoyable as possible.

If you’re here to look for tips and hacks, in this article we’ll be sharing with you some helpful information on how you can make the most of your time away from home.

1. Work Travel Packing Tips (The Right Way to Do it)

Use Carry-On Bags Only

When going for business travel, it’s recommended that you only use carry-on bags. It’s not a good idea to start a business trip when lugging a huge suitcase through a foreign city or worse is to lose your luggage before your destination. Keep the packing minimal and light. Just bring the essentials and make sure to keep your belongings in your allotted carry-on bags. You still need to remember that you are there for work and not for a long vacation.

Make sure essentials are packed between trips

If you want to save time every time you travel, you need to have extra chargers, office supplies, toiletries, and business cards in your bag.

Use plastic bags to pack dress shirts

If you want to avoid your shirts from wrinkling in your luggage, you may want to pack them in plastic garment bags.

Don’t forget casual clothes

Although most of your time there is for business purposes, it’s not smart for you to only bring suits. Make sure that you also include casual clothes. This is important in case you have extra time to explore the place and sights on foot and have a casual dinner at night. Aside from that, gym clothes might be necessary for you.

Consider security checkpoints when packing

When you are packing stuff, it’s also important that you keep security checkpoints in mind. This will depend on where you’re travelling to, of course. But commonly, your electronics and liquids must be accessed easily.

Look for the best luggage and accessories

It’s worth investing in a suitcase that’s easy to pack and move. If you don’t want to earn any costly charges for a suitcase over the airline’s weight standard and limit, consider having a small digital scale that can fit in the side pocket.

Include all the items that help you sleep

Sleep is very crucial when you’re travelling abroad. So make sure that you pack all the items that help you sleep. Pack your pillow, eye mask, or headphones to help you get enough sleep in your hotel accommodation or on the plane. Having a great amount of night sleep is more crucial than packing four pairs of shoes in your luggage.

2. Never Forget to Take Care of Yourself

Whether you’re a workout junkie or not, it’s important to do some moving while you’re away for work. For instance, you can try having a 20-minute pilates sesh. You can do this right on the floor of your hotel before you head to work. You may consider packing trail-mix snacks and a bottle of water for your quick workout. Even if you’re away from home, it doesn’t mean that you don’t have the time to look after yourself.

If you’re the gym bunny type, the hotel accommodation you’re going to book must have a gym onsite. Also, it’s important that you don’t forget to pack your gym clothes like what we’ve previously mentioned and your runners as well. Meanwhile, do you follow a special eating plan or any requirements? Then it’s important that you check the food spots before you go eat there and see where you can buy some simple, healthy essentials if you have to stay longer.

3. Bring small amounts of money

If you’re not a fan of carrying cash, you are probably using your debit card for everything. However, when travelling for work, it’s better to have some cash in your wallet just in case you actually need it. Have you ever been absorbed in meetings and not had an opportunity to slip and grab yourself some lunch or dinner? If you don’t have some cash with you, you won’t be able to ask a friend or a workmate to run down to the local cafe and grab something for you.

4. Use the most of your travel location

If you want to make the most of the time of your travel location, don’t forget to explore the place also by trying local activities and tasting local food. You should make a more conscious effort to visit the places and have a good time. If you’re in Paris for work and you’ve not accomplished any sightseeing, then that seems like a waste!

5. Ask the locals about where to eat and what to see

Want to experience the best local food in the place? The secret is to chat with the local staff about where the best restaurants are located and anything about the must-see tourist attractions. Doing this will lead to the best food and sightseeing experiences. This could also result in stronger relationships with locals.
