Gulati was born on 27 March 1923 in Sialkot, Pakistan. Talking about education, he left the fifth grade studies within the middle of 1933. Gulati opened a store of spices in Karol Bagh in Karol Bagh. After this, in 1953, he opened another shop in Chandni Chowk. In 1959 Gulati bought land in Kirti Nagar and established MDH’s factory .
