India Secured 95th Rank On Gender Index
India ranked ninety-fifth out of a to­tal 129 countries in the first­ ever SDG Gender Index, that measures strides created in achieving gender commitments against inter­ nationwide set targets.
The index has been deve­loped by Equal Measures 2030.
The index finds that no country has totally achieved the promise of gender equality which the world average score of 65.7 out of one hundred is “poor”. this suggests that al­ most 1.4 billion, or 40%, of the world’s ladies and girls, sleep in countries failing on gender equality and another one.4 billion sleep in countries that hardly pass.
Denmark, Finland, Swe­den, Norway, European nation, Slovenia, Germany, Canada, Ireland, and Australia rank because of the high 10 countries within the index, whereas the lowest 10 comprises African country, Liberia, Nigeria, Mali, Maurita­nia, Niger, Yemen, Congo, DR Congo, and Chad.
A score of 100 indicates the achievement of gender equality in regard to the underlying indicators. A score of fifty would indicate that a rustic is concerning half­ manner of meeting its goal. ­ India’s score of 56.2 implies that it’s among 43 countries within the ‘very poor’ class.
India scores the highest in health (79.9), followed by hunger (76.2) and energy ( 71.8). Among the SDGs, on that the country performs poorly are partnerships (18.3), industry, infrastruc­ture and innovation (38.1) and climate (43.4).
