Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s iconic poem as a reminder to light diyas ‘Aao phir se diya jalayen’

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday shared a video of BJP veteran Atal Bihari Vajpayee reciting his famous poem – ‘aao phir se diya jalayen’ to remind people to light diyas tomorrow.

In a special address, PM Modi had on Friday appealed to people to modify off the lights at their homes and lightweight up diyas, candles or mobile torches for nine minutes at 9 pm on Sunday, April 5 to display the nation’s collective spirit to defeat coronavirus.

“In that light, therein lustre, therein radiance, allow us to resolve in our minds that we aren’t alone, that nobody is alone,” he had said. The move, however, received sharp criticism from the Opposition as several leaders slammed PM Modi over his new call, saying that they had expected him to announce a second financial package.

The opposition parties have also urged the Prime Minister to supply financial relief to poor and migrant workers amid the nationwide lockdown to contain the spread of Covid-19.

“Aao diya jalayen”, Prime Minister Modi said during a tweet today while posting a video of Atal Bihari Vajpayee reciting the poem.
