Sometimes, it’s hard to pick a travel destination because of various reasons. Whenever you cannot think of one, know that you can simply go on a road trip. Well, it’s not completely simple, but it’s simpler than travels you prepare for within months. Why? Because oftentimes, it can be spontaneous, random or sudden. You can plan about it today and make the road trip happen tomorrow! That’s the beauty and charm of it!

But before you go with the extemporary flow of road trips, you should still keep in mind that there are some things to do to equip yourself and your travel. Totally impromptu is fine, too, and many of such end up the best experiences of one’s life. Nevertheless, being ready takes your road trip to a different and more comfortable tone. With that being said, here are 12 travel trips to remember before a whole day of long road trips!

1 – CLEAN AND CONDITION YOUR VEHICLE.

You’re off to a lengthy day of drive and ride. The vehicle you are about to use will be your tough buddy that will make this whole trip worthwhile. Clean and condition it first before anything else. Sanitize it before your family or friends ride it. See to it that the wheels are functioning without issue, that the air is sufficient, that the pedals are fine and that the lights are turning on and off without delay. Every segment of the car must be in its best state because if not, it should not be used for your long drives.

2 – BRING PACKED FOOD.

It would be taking a risk if you assume that there will be a food store wherever your road trip’s pathway would be. Your tummy might rumble and hurt because of hunger while you’re in the middle of mountain ranges. It would be best if you bring packed food and snacks which you can eat in the car anytime anywhere.

3 – PACK LIGHT WITH EXTRA CLOTHES.

Although it’s not an overnight trip, bringing extra shirts will be a great idea. You never know when the squad suddenly thinks of swimming or when your clothes get spilled with food. What’s more, the sun’s heat is no joke, especially in summer! Backup clothes will help you freshen up and get rid of the sweaty feel during your day trip. This is just a smart move when you can expect your trip to end up late at night.  You do not have to bring a lot; pack light with these extra garments, and you’re good to go.

4 – DON’T FORGET YOUR HYGIENE ESSENTIALS.

As it’s going to be a long course, you might feel the need to answer the call of nature in the middle of it. That is especially if you eat a lot or fail to use the comfort room before leaving the house. For these and other activities wherein you might get wet or dirtied, it is vital that you carry your hygiene essentials, such as soap, wet wipes, alcohol bottles and hand sanitizers.

5 – FULLY CHARGE YOUR GADGETS.

A major regret when people go on trips is forgetting to recharge the batteries of their cameras, tablets and mobile phones. These devices have become basic travel must-haves, so keeping them on and alive is a need too!

Fully charge your gadgets before leaving the house. In that way, you won’t miss capturing lovely scenery, precious moments and amazing memories with the click of them cam!

6 – CARRY A UNIVERSAL CHARGER AND/OR A POWER BANK.

Following the need to charge your electronic devices before going on a road trip, you must carry a universal charger and/or a power bank. If you have the first one, you can plug it in wherever a charging socket is available, like in the car or in the convenience stop you will stop by. On the other hand, a power bank is indeed made for recharging mobile devices while traveling. You will not panic because of your cellphone’s battery getting low when you have a power bank that takes your worry away!

7 – PREPARE YOUR ROAD MAP.

It could be a spontaneous road trip, however, isn’t it quite difficult to be directionless? Prepare your road map, so you won’t get lost in the local city that’s new to yourself.

8 – CHECK OUT TRAVEL STOPS FOR RESTING.

Particularly if your road trip will be to and in places far from the city, you should check out travel stops for resting. These could be convenience stores, lay-by zones, gasoline stations, malls, restaurants and more. Resting is a must in long road trips, specifically for drivers to be able to stretch and rest.

9 – LOOKUP ACCESSIBLE ACCOMMODATION IN YOUR ROUTES.

When you decide to arrive at a certain inn or lodging to stay in and keep your stuff after your long road trip to a specific destination, you should be ready to avoid prices that will punch a hole in your pocket. Lookup accessible hotel accommodation options in your routes. Surely, you want them close to your desired travel spots, so before the day of the outing itself, do an in-depth search as you see fit!

10 – MAKE SURE THE DRIVER BRINGS A DRIVER’S LICENSE.

It’s a given, but here’s a gentle reminder to avoid hassles and troubles on your road trip. Make sure that the driver, regardless if it’s you or not, is not just skillful but also has and brings a driver license. It’s for the safety of everyone!

11 – FILL UP THE FUEL TANK.

Aside from a driver, what else does the vehicle for your road trip need? Fuel, of course. Fill up the fuel tank generously, so it’s completely ready for a whole day of road cruise! You can get lost on your routes but only if you have gas, alright? Alright!

12 – BE PREPARED WITH EXTRA CASH.

You’re using your own private vehicle, but be prepared with extra cash nonetheless. You might need or want to buy something or pay for fees on the road, so you should have backup money anytime!
